Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 2026

Summary

TrueRead does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device. We don't know who you are, and that's by design.

Data We Collect

None. TrueRead has no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind. We do not use any third-party SDKs that collect data.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults and SwiftData, and never leaves it:

You can delete all stored data at any time from Settings > Data > Clear All Data.

Network Usage

TrueRead connects to the internet only to:

All RSS feeds are fetched directly from their publishers. There is no proxy server, no intermediary, and no data is sent from your device to our servers or any third party. We do not operate any servers.

AI Processing

TrueRead uses Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models) for article quality scoring, keyword extraction, and content summarisation. All AI processing happens entirely on your device. No article content is sent to any cloud AI service.

In-App Purchases

TrueRead Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit. We do not process, collect, or have access to any payment information. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to any TrueRead account (because there are no accounts).

No Third-Party SDKs

TrueRead does not include any third-party SDKs, frameworks, or libraries that collect user data. The only external framework used is Apple's StoreKit for processing in-app purchases, which is handled entirely by Apple.

No Accounts or Login

TrueRead does not require or offer any form of user registration, login, or authentication. There are no user accounts, no email collection, and no social login.

Children's Privacy

TrueRead does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app displays news content from third-party RSS feeds, which is not curated for children.

Third-Party Content

Articles displayed in TrueRead are sourced from third-party RSS feeds (e.g. Reuters, AP, BBC). TrueRead does not control the content of these feeds. When you tap "Open in Safari" or follow article links, you leave TrueRead and are subject to the destination website's privacy policy.

GDPR and CCPA Compliance

TrueRead is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) by design. Since we collect no personal data whatsoever, there is no data to access, rectify, port, or delete. Your right to privacy is absolute because we never had your data in the first place.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated effective date. Since TrueRead collects no data, changes would be minimal and structural only.
